What does "overclocking" and all that mean with a video card? Does it harm it? If so, what causes it and how could I prevent it?

The Geforce FX5700 Ultra OC (overclocked) 256mb is an excellent card. I can vouch for that. I've been running that on one of my machines for GW and have been running at 1280x1024, max detail, and anti-aliasing at x4. Looks beautiful. Don't get an MX, it won't be compatible with a lot of new games coming out. The MX line was Geforce's way to compete with the cheaper, junk cards while the TI's were newer. Even if you could find an older Geforce 4 TI 4600-4800 or something on ebay would be good. Look around, you'll find "your" card. Try not to buy a used card unless you can test it first or you'll learn fast that people can appear more honest then they are . Good luck!

So you got mid range and little lower.Keep in mind that the same card from a differnt company in my eyes and almost every one else`s, makes a big differance.Example BFG,and they tend to cost more also.

What is the difference between AGP, PCI and all that. I have seen posts about it being based on motherboards. So does that mean if you have a say, PCI mother board, do you have to buy a PCI video card? I do not know what type of motherboard I have, where can I find out?
